About Us

So What is
All This About?

Late in 2001, C.J. Rabbitt and Jack Kravitz moved to Hawaii from Southern California.  With them came their
pet houserabbit whose name was Blackberry.  C.J. Rabbitt wrote and illustrated the story of the move in his
book, "The Tale of Rabbitt in Paradise," (available on this website) and that was the beginning of Rabbitt
in Paradise, LLC.

Since that time, they have increased their collections of rabbit-themed merchandise to include jewelry, table art,
holiday items, greeting cards, and other new books about Blackberry Rabbitt.

C.J. Rabbitt (yes, it is a pseudonym), author, artist, jewelry designer, is a former professional classical dancer,
having formerly made his home in Manhattan, New York, and also having worked as a performer at New York's
Lincoln Center.

Jack Kravitz (yes, also a pseudonym), is from Anchorage, Alaska;  a jewelry designer and wire-wrap artist,
before his involvement with Rabbitt in Paradise, LLC, he designed and constructed jewelry for the stage.

Blackberry Rabbitt (not a pseudonym), was the inspiration for the whole of Rabbitt in Paradise.  His expansive
and exhuberent personality made stories about him a joy to write.  His consummate skills as an artist's
model made his paintings and illustrations a joy for C.J. Rabbbitt to execute.  He was used to accompanying
his human family everywhere they went - to restaurants, to Waikiki Beach where they lived, even on
airplanes.  He was a favorite among his fans everywhere.  Sadly, Blackberry Rabbitt passed away on June 16,
2007 due to complications arising from abdominal cancer.  He is sorely missed at home and abroad.

His successor is Desirée de Rabbitt, a lovely Netherland Dwarf rabbit who is happy to have found a home with
the human family of the Rabbitts.  You can see Desi on her own page on this site.

And Why is this Important?

Rabbits have become the third most popular house pet in the country today.  They are delightful, intelligent
creatures, and their personalities are very akin to the attributes given to them by the wisdom of the
ancient oriental zodiac.  Rabbits are wonderful companions, and also have a wonderful capacity to
rehabilitate:  the eighteenth century hymnist, William Cooper, given to bouts of depression, kept several
rabbits as pets because he claimed that with a rabbit around, you could not possibly be sad.  We think
that's true.

The down side of the popularity of rabbits as companion animals is that they are also frequently abused by
those who do not understand their personalities and their needs.  Take a look at www.rabbit.org, the official
site of the American Houserabbit Society, to learn all about these lovely and gentle folk.

We at Rabbitt in Paradise, LLC are committed to the edification of the rabbit as a valued companion animal,
and to the education of the general public in their care and welfare!
